Cinderella

Once upon a time, there was once a beautiful girl. She lived with her father, stepmother, and two stepsisters. Soon her father passed away. Her stepmother and stepsisters began to treat badly. They hated her because she was beautiful and they were ugly.

Everyday, they made her work hard. At night, the girl would sit by the cinders. She did not have a room of her own.

"Lazy girl!" shouted the girl's stepmother. "Always sitting by the cinders. Shall I call you cinder girl? No, I shall call you Cinderella!"

From that day onwards, everyone called the girl Cinderella.

One day, the king's messenger came to town. He said that the prince was looking for a bride. He invited all the girls in the kingdom to a ball at the palace.

Cinderella stepsisters, Ramona and Elisa, heard about it. They were very excited. They wanted to many prince.

On the day of he ball, Ramona, Elisa, and their mother wore their best clothes.

Cinderella looked at them and said, "Mother, may I go too?"

"What? You?" laughed her stepmother. "You don't even have a gown. Look at your torn and dirty clothes. Do you think the prince will want you to marry you?"

Soon they left for the palace. Cinderella sat in the kitchen and cried Sadly.

Suddenly, there was a bright light. "Why are you crying, my child?" asked a gentle voice.

Cinderella looked up and saw a fairy. "Who are you?" she asked.

"I'm your fairy godmother." said the fairy.

Cinderella then said to the fairy godmother. "I want to go to the palace but I have nothing to wear."

Her fairy godmother raised her wand. Suddenly, Cinderella was wearing a beautiful golden gown and a pair of glass slippers.

"This is beautiful," said Cinderella as he hugged the fairy. "Thank you."

"Go and find a pumpkin and three mice," said the fairy.

Soon, Cinderella brought a large pumpkin and three mice. Her fairy godmother raised her wand again and WHAM! The pumpkin turned into a carriage and the three mice turned into two horses and a coachman.

"Go now! It's late," said the fairy. As Cinderella stepped into the carriage, her fairy godmother said, "You must be home by midnight."

"I will," said Cinderella as she waved goodbye. The horses galloped as fast as the wind to the palace.

In the palace, the prince was unhappy. He could not find anyone he liked. But as Cinderella stepped into the ballroom, he smiled. He had never seen anyone so beautiful in his life. Everyone who say saw Cinderella asked, "Who is she? She must be a princess!"

The prince walked towards Cinderella and offered her his arm. Then they danced gracefully throughout the night.

"Dong! Dong! Dong!" The clock struck twelve.

"Oh, no!" cried Cinderella. She was so happy that she had forgotten about the time. She rushed out of the ballroom and ran home as fast as she could. In her haste, she dropped one of her slippers. When she reached home, she found her self in her old clothes again.

The next day everyone was talking about he beautiful girl at the ball. "The prince has fallen in love with her," they said. "He found her slipper but he doesn't know where to find her.

Soon the king's messenger arrived. He said, "The prince will marry the girl who can wear the slipper."

The messenger went from house to house. He had to find the girl whose foot could fit into he slipper. But no girl could wear the smallest slipper. When he reached Cinderella's house, Ramona and Elisa shouted excitedly, "It's mine. Let me try it!"

Each of the sisters tried on the slipper but their feet were too big. "Ouch!" they cried.

The messenger pulled away the slipper from the two sisters. He then said to their mother. "I heard that you have another daughter."

"You mean Cinderella?" she said. "Pooh! She is dirty and ugly. She can't be the one!"

Just as the messenger was about to leave, a soft voice called out. "Wait, please! May I try on the slipper?" Cinderella slipped her small foot into the glass slipper and it fitted perfectly. Her stepmother and stepsister were shocked to see this. They did not know that it was Cinderella who danced with the prince.

So Cinderella went to the palace to meet the prince. When the prince saw her, he recognised her at once and asked her to marry him.

Cinderella looked very beautiful on her wedding day. Everyone in the kingdom loved her. But the one who loved her most was the prince.
