The Camping Trip

The warm weather had finally arrived in Toadstool Village, and Bobby Brockle and his friends Porky and Chip wanted to go on a camping trip. They had planned their trip all winter, and now the friends couldn’t wait to sleep out under the stars. After promising their mothers that they would not wander too far into the forest, they were allowed to go.

The next day, Bobby, Porky, and Chip packed their sleeping bags, tent, and food and found a perfect perfect spot to spot to camp in the forest. They played games, told stories, and sang songs. As they tried to fall asleep they heard noises in the night, but they told each other it was only owls and the wind through the trees. Bobby and his friends wanted to be brave and fearless campers.

But Chip wanted to be sure it wasn't something else. He poked his head out of the tent and then yelled, "There's a monster out there!" Bobby and Porky peeked out and saw a huge creature with long arms headed right toward them. The boys were so frightened they left everything behind them and ran home as fast as they could. Bobby, Chip, and Porky didn't care about being brave anymore!

The next day, the boys had everyone in Toadstool Village come with them to see where the monster had been. It was the biggest, scariest thing they had ever seen. When they reached their tent, Bobby pointed and said, "We were scared by old tree! That'll teach us to be afraid of monsters." But little did Bobby know that another adventure was just around the corner.
